Adams excels at portraying the slow erosion of idealism. The prison storyline could have been a slog, but Adams anchors it by showing Mike’s transformation from a fraud who played lawyer to a convict who must find an authentic self. His supporting cast inside the iron bars—including Paul Schulze as the sadistic guard Frank Gallo and Malcolm-Jamal Warner as the inmate elder Julius—provides a terrifying mirror to the polished world of Pearson Specter Litt.
