It works because you assume others operate with your moral framework. You assume if someone says "I love you," they mean what you mean by love. You assume tears mean remorse.
Because dark psychology only works until you decide your peace is non-negotiable.
Most people believe manipulation is loud. A raised voice. A veiled threat. Coercion you can see coming from a mile away.
Not hypervigilance. That just exhausts you.
And that – not the yelling, not the threat – is the real prison.
