Dhoni's love affair with cricket began at a young age. He grew up playing cricket in the streets of Ranchi, using makeshift equipment and often playing with older boys. His talent was soon discovered by his coach, K. A. Paul, who recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue the sport.
In 2002, Dhoni moved to Kolkata to play for the Bengal cricket team, where he began to gain recognition for his exceptional wicket-keeping and batting skills. Despite his natural talent, Dhoni faced numerous setbacks early in his career. He was a relatively late starter, joining the Jharkhand Under-19 team at the age of 18.
