Li Bingbing is a well-cast, visually spot-on Ada Wong wasted in a shallow, heroic rewrite. If you are a casual action fan, you will enjoy her scenes. If you are a game fan seeking the manipulative, morally ambiguous spy who uses a grappling hook and plays all sides, you will be disappointed. The Anderson films reduced one of gaming’s most fascinating anti-heroes to a forgettable ally. For the definitive Ada Wong, stick to Resident Evil 2 (remake) , Resident Evil 4 , or the animated films ( Damnation , Vendetta ), where her character truly shines.
